Contact lenses not only correct vision and enhance your overall appearance, but they are also safer than spectacles. Specs can fog up, reducing vision and endangering you, especially when you are in traffic or outdoors. Once applied or inserted, contact lens stay firmly on the eye surface, which means that that you do not have to face problems caused by fogging or by wet spectacles. Types of Contact Lenses

Contact lenses can be either soft lenses or hard or rigid contact lenses. Soft lenses need to be cleaned regularly and must be kept moist to ensure softness. They are invariably made from hydrophilic plastic. These lenses mold better over the cornea and absorb liquid. These lenses are more comfortable than hard lenses. Hard or rigid lenses are gas permeable lenses made of flexible plastics. These lenses let oxygen pass through the cornea, keeping it healthy. Plus, these lenses are easier to maintain.

Prescriptive contact lenses can be worn for a number of reasons. These lenses can be used to cure myopia (short sightedness), color identification problems, hypermetropia (long sightedness), astigmatism (blurring of vision) and many more vision problems or eye defects. Soft bandage contact lenses are also used to heal eye wounds. These lenses prevent the intermittent rubbing of eyelids against the cornea by reducing blinking, thus letting the cornea heal faster.

So, if you have got bored with carrying the cumbersome spectacles on your tired nose bridge, you need not think twice before switching to eye contact lenses. After all; it's all a matter of seeing right with convenience. And the fact that contact lens also allows you the opportunity to look smarter or to try out different looks (colored contacts) is like icing on the cake!
