Buy contact lenses to improve your vision and appearance. Contact lenses information plus tips and tricks on where to buy contact lenses on or off line.

Hey I can dig it...teenagers are teenagers and there is usually something that's hip and cool to be a part of. How about contacts? Not just any eye sight improving contacts but ones that will enhance your appearance. So, buy contact lenses to make you look better? That's it!

Okay, if you are going to buy contact lenses then to be part of the in crowd you need to buy color contact lenses. But to our teenage community reading this; do you know how to buy contact lenses. There is so much available out there today. So let's look at a few pointers.

How To Buy Contact Lenses

Tip #1.. Look for the best value for your money, not only at the price – there are many contact lenses which are more popular than other brands because they have better follow up service, better customer service and better promotional offers. Look not only at the price (even if you are on a tight budget), but also at the things you get while buying certain brands in the market.

Tip #2.. Be well informed about the pros and cons of the leading brands – check out the information available on the Net and speak with your doctor and maybe a few specialists before you settle on the brand and type that would best suit you. Do not be in a hurry here, as a wrong decision could be really dangerous.

Tip #3.. Go only for leading brands – the low cost that other brands offer will always be tempting. However, the eyes are not really organs that you can experimented with.

Tip #4.. There are many instances when cheap brands caused complications. Do not risk your eyes for saving a few dollars – it is not worth it. You should always look at the brand and quality of the lens, and not from which outlet you are buying it. The service and assurance of quality comes with the brand and not with the shop

Tip #5.. Shop around for the best choice – you can (as per the law) copy your prescription and go to other places to buy contact lenses or any eye wear. Use this opportunity to look around and choose the best brand for your needs.

Good Vision Is Important

I cannot stress enough on the importance of having a good quality contact lens. Any deviation that a cheaper version may give you can cause a number of complications that would prove much costlier for you and sometimes cause irreversible damage to your eyes.

Do not take any chances when it comes to your eyes. Buy the best and buy the safest brand available.

Again, being vigilant in your purchase is vital. I'm not endorsing that you buy contact lenses just because it's the fashionable thing to do. But what I do want you to consider is at least visiting your doctor or seeing an eye specialist to either get some solid medical advice or further information about the use of contact.

So you haven't taken a holiday in quite a while. You're in such a rush to leave behind the daily grind that you forget to pack one of the most important pieces of equipment that a contact lens wearer needs: your contact lens case.

By the time you realize your error all the stores are closed and you're sitting in the hotel room pondering what to do with those two little discs that mean so much to you and your vision.

This scenario has happened to many people over the years and many innovative solutions have been tried, however, not all these ideas are a healthy choice for your eyes.

Keeping your contact lenses clean and sterile is extremely important for good eye health and so where and how you store them makes a difference.

Why Is It So Important To Store Contact Lenses Correctly?

When you first get your contact lenses your eye care professional goes through a list of care instructions with you. These instructions detail what kind of solutions to use for your particular kind of contact lenses, how to clean your contact lenses properly and how to store them overnight.

You know that you have to keep your contact lens case clean and replace it every 1-3 months, you know you're to avoid getting tap water anywhere near your contact lenses or your contact lens case but do you know why this is such important advice?

Three reasons: Acanthamoeba keratitis, Fusarium keratitis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

- Acanthamoeba keratitis is a naturally occurring parasite found in tap water (and other water sources). It can infect the eye and destroy the cornea. Permanent vision loss is usually associated with this type of keratitis.

- Fusarium keratitis is a fungus that can aggressively attack your cornea and cause blindness. This infection is also associated with poor contact lens hygiene.

- Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacterium that lives in soil and water and can contaminate any area that has contact with soil or water. In rare cases it can cause the loss of your eye.

This is why proper sterilization of your hands, contact lenses and contact lens cases is paramount to keeping your eyes healthy.

How Should I Store My Contact Lenses?

If your proper lens case is not available then the first thing you have to find is a container that is clean and that can be sterilized.

All hotels usually have two small drinking glasses covered with lids for you to use. All hotels usually have a kettle to boil water for tea or coffee.

- Boil the water and then pour it into the drinking glasses, rinse the glasses a couple of times and then immediately pour the water out. Leave the glasses to air dry.

- Once the glasses are completely dry then put your normal contact lens solution into each glass.

- Put the glasses on your nightstand or table and put your left contact lens into the left positioned glass and your right contact lens into the right positioned glass. This way you won't mix up your contact lenses.

- Gently tap the bottom of the glasses on the table so your contact lenses become submerged in the solution properly.

- Put the covered lids back on the glasses to prevent anything from falling into them while you sleep.

- Clean your lenses thoroughly in the morning and then buy a new contact lens case first thing.

NEVER use a homemade contact lens solution or plastic containers. If you forget your solution wear glasses until you can properly disinfect your contact lenses.

When looking for contact lenses, contact lenses cases, Halloween contacts or colored contacts, be sure to shop online for huge savings when compared to retail prices.

4 oz contact lenses solution carry on?

well on the opti free contacts solution it says its tsa complaint. and its 4 oz. well on the opti free website it says to declare it to a TSA officer for further inspection. and im supposed to take the 4oz bottle and declare it how do you do that?
on my carry on plastic bag all im taking is my contacts lense solution, eye drops, contacts case, and an extra pair of contacts lenses for back up.
will they just let me pass if i leave the bottle in with the rest of the stuff?

this is the first time i travel with contacts.. thankss

The standard protocol for "ALL Passengers" traveling within or from the United States of America (including US Protectorates) is the 3-1-1 rule. 3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 oz. container size is a security measure. However, Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. To declare a larger liquid you state the contents and the reason for carrying on (all you need to say is it is for medical purposes). Because of HIPPA Law, an inspector may open the container and ask what is in it, but not the specific reason for its medical use. If in doubt, bring a doctors note. However, I recently traveled with a bottle of body spray from Bath and Body Works (12 ounces) and a lighter and got both through US airport security 4 separate times! Makes you wounder doesn't it?

Contact lens wearers have always focused on the selection and fitting of their contact lenses. However, with the exception of perhaps selecting a 'nifty' color, less attention is paid by many to the lens case in which their contacts will be stored. This is an oversight that could lead to serious eye-health problems.

Currently, a large portion of research in the contact lens field centers on preventing and treating infections that result from contaminated lenses. The condition of contact lens cases must also be considered a factor; especially when a recent study* discovered that nearly one quarter of cases in use are never replaced. This is extremely alarming because when not properly cared for or discarded, these cases become reservoirs for dangerous bacteria that threaten the health of the wearer's eyes. The implications are more serious when realizing that an increasing number of children are being fitted for contacts. If parents are lax in lens care, it is logical to assume that this behavior will be passed onto their kids.

One very serious condition that can stem from unclean contact lens cases is acanthamoeba keratitis. This is a microbial infection that in its advanced stages leads to ulceration of the cornea and the need for a corneal transplant. Symptoms include irritation, sensitivity to light, tearing, and the feeling that something is in the eye. At times diagnosis is not immediate, as these symptoms mirror other types of eye infections.

Whether it is due to neglect or lack of awareness, the negative trend in lens case care must be reversed. Nearly 80% of complications related to contact use are due to patients not applying proper care techniques. The important thing to remember is that contacts are not just fashionable accessories, but regulated medical devices that require the utmost diligence (and that includes cases) to safeguard your eyes.

Recommended contact lens case replacement is once a month, and during the time a case is kept the following steps should be taken:

Always wash hands before handling contact lens or the lens case.

Never use tap water (which may contain bacteria) to clean lens cases. Use a solution and air-dry with the lids open.

Never 'top-off' old solution with new. Use fresh solution each time you store the lenses.

Do not allow solution bottle tips to touch any surface, including your body, as this leads to contamination.

Do not use solutions past their expiration date.

Also available are case-holders that keep track of replacement times for both lenses and cases. These are handy for those who do not want to rely on their memory alone.

Consult your eye care professional about contact lens and lens case care, types of solutions that are best suited for your needs, and any changes in care regimen that you plan to make. Be sure to follow all your doctor's instructions.

How do I know if im wasting contact lens solution and is One bottle of solution for one pair of lenses?

My first question is how do I know if I am wasting contact lens solution. There are so many steps to cleaning and stuff. You have to soak them in your hands, rinse them, fill up the case, rise the case. That is a lot of solution don't you think? My second question is one bottle of solution for one pair of contacts? If so where can I buy contact solution without buying the contacts?

All the drug stores sell contact lens solutions and none require buying lenses. Read the instructions on each box to see how much solution is required and make sure it's for your type of lens.

How do I clean my contact lens cases properly?

Like I notice after a while, the cases have a slippery feel to them. Is it OK to wash them with tap water and air dry them or do we really have to clean them with the solution?

Drop the case and the lid into a pot of boiling water on the stove for a few minutes , then let it air dry.

Just using tap water , not boiled, can leave some bacteria in the case.

Then rinse with a bit of solution just before using it again.

It's best to get a new case about every 3 months also.

Is it safe to boil my contact lens case?

I never thoroughly clean my contact lens case. So I kind of feel like there is bacteria growing in it and its getting in my eye because lately I've noticed some discomfort while wearing my lenses. I heard somewhere that you can boil contact lens cases to clean them well. Is this true? If not, can you please tell me a good way to thoroughly deep clean my contact lens case? Please answer this. Thank you.

I've never boiled my contact lens case for fear of damaging the seal. Instead, I've let a pot of water come to a boil & then let my contact lens case soak in the hot water for a few minutes.

You can also rinse your lens case under warm running water & rub the surface w/ your fingers. Then use your contact lens sterilizing solution to soak it.

The easiest thing to do is to replace the case every 3-6 months.

Long time ago, people were very fond of painted reading glasses, since they looked quite artistic in their own way. However, the fact was that those were just cheap frames made of plastics which were laden with a few designs but they were nevertheless very cool.

Since everyone in the crowd was very fond of those glasses, you could easily mingle with the crowd as one having a similar taste. But today, decades later, things have undergone a drastic change. Today, it's an individual's own style statement, who does not want to follow the set trend. Rather, today's crowd wants to set a trend instead of following one. A good way to present yourself in an interesting manner is by sporting designer reading glasses, since eyewear can change the way you look.

So allow your eyes to do all the talking for you. You can easily find good eyewear for any kind of personality that you may have. Reading glasses, in fact, are very stylish with colorful frames and textures which were never seen earlier. So make your own style statement with chic and bold eyewear with a classical touch to them, or you can also choose the simple slim glasses which look very elegant. Otherwise, another option would be to go for the round frames, either fully round or ones having some angles. While some of the reading glasses are rimless, others are semi-rimless.

You can easily find reading glasses for men and women alike. You can make a selection from the neat lines to the curvy ones. There are other patterns available as well, and what's more, they come in a variety of colors as well. They offer a great comfort and are generally made of metals, and have spring hinges. Reading glasses would add a new dimension to your personality for sure. They are readily available, as well as on prescription. Some points to be kept in mind while going for the former include:

•	The ready-made reading glasses are often manufactured in bulk and thus, they are more prone to having some kind of defects or the other. So always, be careful while buying the readymade ones.

•	They are quite cheap. The readymade glasses can be bought for about $5 to $20, and come in a wide variety of styles and colors. A lot of people buy more than one pair since they come so cheap.

•	There are some general defects which you should know, like the tiny bubbles that find their way inside the glass thus distorting the view through the glasses.

•	They are also available in quite a lot of sizes, like a few of them are small enough to be fitted in a carrying case, and are foldable as well, so they hardly occupy a lot of space.

So given that these reading glasses come in multiple colors and exciting shapes, you might also be tempted to buy a pair for yourself, with a matching necklace. If you just use them for some time, you will find it difficult to give them up!

Suzanne Hughes is an online eyewear style consultant who loves helping those new to eyeglasses find the perfect pair of reading glasses. For great styles of eyeglasses, including mens and womens reading glasses, sunglasses, and folding specs, be sure to visit her website.
