Buy contact lenses to improve your vision and appearance. Contact lenses information plus tips and tricks on where to buy contact lenses on or off line.

Hey I can dig it...teenagers are teenagers and there is usually something that's hip and cool to be a part of. How about contacts? Not just any eye sight improving contacts but ones that will enhance your appearance. So, buy contact lenses to make you look better? That's it!

Okay, if you are going to buy contact lenses then to be part of the in crowd you need to buy color contact lenses. But to our teenage community reading this; do you know how to buy contact lenses. There is so much available out there today. So let's look at a few pointers.

How To Buy Contact Lenses

Tip #1.. Look for the best value for your money, not only at the price – there are many contact lenses which are more popular than other brands because they have better follow up service, better customer service and better promotional offers. Look not only at the price (even if you are on a tight budget), but also at the things you get while buying certain brands in the market.

Tip #2.. Be well informed about the pros and cons of the leading brands – check out the information available on the Net and speak with your doctor and maybe a few specialists before you settle on the brand and type that would best suit you. Do not be in a hurry here, as a wrong decision could be really dangerous.

Tip #3.. Go only for leading brands – the low cost that other brands offer will always be tempting. However, the eyes are not really organs that you can experimented with.

Tip #4.. There are many instances when cheap brands caused complications. Do not risk your eyes for saving a few dollars – it is not worth it. You should always look at the brand and quality of the lens, and not from which outlet you are buying it. The service and assurance of quality comes with the brand and not with the shop

Tip #5.. Shop around for the best choice – you can (as per the law) copy your prescription and go to other places to buy contact lenses or any eye wear. Use this opportunity to look around and choose the best brand for your needs.

Good Vision Is Important

I cannot stress enough on the importance of having a good quality contact lens. Any deviation that a cheaper version may give you can cause a number of complications that would prove much costlier for you and sometimes cause irreversible damage to your eyes.

Do not take any chances when it comes to your eyes. Buy the best and buy the safest brand available.

Again, being vigilant in your purchase is vital. I'm not endorsing that you buy contact lenses just because it's the fashionable thing to do. But what I do want you to consider is at least visiting your doctor or seeing an eye specialist to either get some solid medical advice or further information about the use of contact.

Ophthalmologists (M.D. or D.O.) are eye surgeons who study and treat eye diseases and can also perform the duties of optometrists; optometrists (O.D.) examine eyes, diagnose and treat vision problems, and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses and in most states they also can prescribe medicine; opticians grind and dispense eyeglasses and in some states dispense contact lenses. With a contact lens prescription in hand, it's possible to buy your contact lenses from stores, the Internet, over the phone, or by mail. Among the many kinds of contact lenses you can buy are: novelty, colored, crazy, Halloween, special effects, theatrical, costume, scary, glow in the dark, wild eyes, mirrored, black, white, and red.

All correcting contact lenses must have a valid prescription from an ophthalmologist or optometrist. Be careful about buying cheap contact lenses, they may not be the quality you want; discounted quality contact lenses are the most desirable.

Soft lenses also come as disposable products, that is, used once and discarded, or as planned-replacement lenses. Extended wear contact lenses are used for overnight or continuous wear ranging from one to six nights or up to 30 days. Soft contact lenses are made of soft, flexible plastics that allow for oxygen to pass through to the cornea.

There are two general categories of contact lenses - soft and rigid gas permeable. The length of continuous lens wear depends on the lens type and your doctor's evaluation of your tolerance for overnight wear. Some doctors prescribe disposables as planned-replacement lenses, which are removed, disinfected, and reused before being discarded.

Newer soft lens materials include silicone-hydrogels to provide more oxygen to your eyes. In some models, each lens corrects for near and distance vision and in others, one lens is for near vision, and the other is for distance. Extra-thin soft lenses are on the market for very sensitive people.

While the ability to hold water increases the oxygen permeability of soft lenses, it increases their fragility quotient as well. People who have good distance vision but need help for reading can get a monovision reading lens for one eye.

Check out how long the online supplier has been in business before you buy. Beware of attempts to substitute a brand different from the one you want when buying contacts. When you receive your order, if you think you've received an incorrect contact lens, check with your doctor or eye care professional right away; don't accept any substitution unless your eye care professional approves it.

Rebates may be available from the seller, from the manufacturer, for first-time contact lens wearers and for individuals who buy lenses and get an eye exam. You can buy contact lenses from an eye doctor, on the Internet, from an optical store or a warehouse club. When you place your order make sure your lenses are available and not out of stock, because you'll need them now.

Buy your contact lenses from a supplier you're familiar with and know is reliable or has name familiarity. Always ask what rebates are available. Before you buy online, check to see if there are any testimonials at the online supplier's website.

To be sure your eyes remain healthy you shouldn't order lenses with a prescription that's expired or stock up on lenses right before the prescription is about to expire; it's much safer to be re-checked by your eye doctor. One sight-threatening concern is the infection Acanthamoeba keratitis, which is caused by improper lens care; this difficult-to-treat parasitic infection's symptoms are similar to those of corneal ulcers. The most serious safety concern with any contact lens is from overnight use.

Extended-wear rigid lenses can cause unexpected, undesirable, reshaping of the cornea. Replace your contacts as recommended by your eye doctor because they wear out as time goes by. If your eyes become red or irritated, remove the lenses immediately and consult with your doctor.

No matter which lenses your doctor prescribes, be sure to ask for written instructions and follow them carefully. If you're planning to buy contact lenses, you should buy the best quality you can get, even at a higher price; you don't want to skimp on quality when it comes to your eyes. It's becoming easier and easier all the time to shop online and often the shipping is free.

contact lenses?

my biggest problem is that im a bit of a hypochondriac. put that together with a moment of not being attentive and u get a real tragedy. so, what i did is i washed my face with my contacts in. im not quite sure if water actually went in my eyes, my best guess is it didnt. however, 10 minutes later i took them out, cuz i read online that u can get keratitis and go blind if water and contacts interact. rite now my contacts are in a peroxide based solution, so i have no doubt that every living thing that once existed on them will die. my question is...will my eyes b okay after this episode?

I wear contacts all the time... I wear them sometimes when I sleep, whear them in the shower, when I go to the pool, tubing down the river.... They are made to wear for all kinds of things... If you get water in your eye it will sometimes make your contact fall out.. But I have never had that happen. It has never given me and kind of infection either... You don't have much to be worried about at all.

Contact lenses have soared in popularity over the last couple decades. There are various reasons why over 24 million people now wear them in the United States alone.

The main reason of course is for cosmetic reasons. A lot of people just don't like how they look in glasses and like the natural look that contact lenses provide. Contacts can also change a person's natural eye color. A woman with blonde hair who has always wanted blue eyes can now have them. Glasses also get in the way of doing a lot of activities. Try to play almost any sport with glasses and you are going to have issues. Contacts eliminate those issues leveling the playing field.

People also choose contacts over glasses for better peripheral vision. Contact lenses are right on your eye instead of a few inches away; this provides an entire field of vision and is especially vital when driving a vehicle. Many people also do not like the added weight on their face and ears that glasses have. A lot of previous glass wearers also made the change to contact lenses because they were tired of their glasses always fogging up from temperature changes. Contacts do not have this annoying distraction. Glasses also tend to clash with certain wardrobes. It could be a casual frame not going well with a business suit or a clash in colors. Contacts of course are not a fashion worry.

People choose contacts over glasses for these reasons and many more, it is no wonder they are as popular as they are in today's society.

To learn more about different styles of contacts, and to find some cheap contact lenses, please visit that link.

Does anyone of you know about the contact lenses infection that i am suffering from?(see details)?

i am a 13 year old contact lens user. i wear them daily. I have been observing since 5-6 days that when i am wearing contacts, my eyes are comfortable but as sonn as i remove them, there is some kind of irritation in the right eye which lasts for9-10 hours. Eyes never seem to be red. i am using the solution of 'complete'. Lenses are about 2 months old and both the solution and contact lenses have not expired yet.
i dont want to get rid of my lenses and am afraid of idea of optician saying me to remove lenses permanently.
tell me how should i get rid of this irritation. thanks a lot in advance.

If the contact lens is damaged, it scratches the cornea. The lens acts as a bandage and protects your damaged cornea from our eyelids. When the lens is removed, the damaged cornea is exposed to the rubbing from your lid. The cornea then repairs over the next few hours, so the irritation / pain goes.

If you continue wearing a lens that scratches your cornea, you are risking more serious complications / infections.

You need to consult your contact lens practitioner. They will examine your eyes and lenses with a microscope & let you know the exact cause. You should not continue lens wear whilst you notice this discomfort.

Hopefully you will have many sucessful years of contact lens wear ahead of you, but you need to co-operate with your optician & seek their advice if you have ANY problems.

Good luck!

Saving money when you buy contact lenses should be your first priority. Whether you're buying contact lenses for vision enhancement or you want to simply create a fresh look, then you've come to the right page!

y, depending on which side of the counter you stand, could be either a good thing, or a bad thing. If you can save on a certain product, then why not.

The same applies when shopping for a cheap contact lens; if you come across a cheap contact lens either at a discounted price or it comes strongly recommended from a reliable source, then you'd be crazy not to consider it.

When A Cheap Contact Lens Deal Presents

What people are most adverse to spending money on are the things that can be purchased for a cheaper price than what they initially paid. Contact lenses are like that. You should not over spend for a pair of contact lenses. There are quite a few options out there where you can get yourself a cheap contact lens. Actually, you can get a cheap pair of contact lenses while you are at it.

Contact Lenses Were Not Always Cheap

At one time, contact lenses were a luxury. They did not come cheap so price precluded many people who wanted contact lenses from getting them. In time, the prices for a cheap contact lens came down to a manageable affordability and the proliferation of cheap contact lens wearers was astounding.

Shopping For A Cheap Contact Lens On The Internet

In today’s information super highway world, the price of a cheap contact lens duo has come down even more. This is truly the glory day of cheap contact lens purchasing. The reason for this is the proliferation of internet cheap contact lens sales.

The internet opens up the marketplace on a global scale. Imagine if instead of one or two local contact lens stores within driving distance of where you live there were several thousands!

In that instance, it would be no surprise that the cost of the contact lens would drop drastically with all that competition. So, with the high volume of internet cheap contact lens distributors and vendors, the result is the same. The cheap contact lens becomes commonplace.

Snap Up A Good Deal!

When you spot a cheap contact lens deal snap it up. It may very well be a brand name product which is on sale to make way for new stock so delaying your decision to purchase could prove to be a costly one in the long run.

You know what is said about procrastination. Whether you come across a good deal on the internet or you are shopping down at the local mall, you should have a pretty good idea now of what to look for with a cheap contact lens deal.

Not only will you find great deals on contact lenses and accessories but you'll also get informative articles on everything contact lens... whether it's a cheap, color or brand name lens you're after.

Most people would prefer not to wear glasses. Why? Well the general perception is that no matter what color, size or style they are, they can, in the main, look unattractive.

If you wear glasses, have you considered color contact lenses. In fact, a cheap color contact lens can improve your appearance aesthetically as well as providing correct vision.

The amazing fact is that a cheap color lens can also be worn by people with perfect vision. The enhancement they can give cosmetically is a big reason for this.

Stick With The Brand Names

Certain type of contact lenses can be very comfortable if you order a well-known brand. A cheap color contact lens can be used everyday even though some people only use them to change their eye color for a certain occasions like job interviews or dates.

These spectacular lenses are available in many striking colors perfect for anyone with any natural eye color. Anyone who likes to constantly change their look can buy more than one color set of cheap contact lenses because of their low price.

Get Attention

If you want to get noticed, try a cheap color contact lens in colors noticeably darker or lighter than your natural eye color. If you have never considered color lenses, you can try it for an enjoyable change. When they are economical, you have nothing to lose. After all, new color contact lenses are the perfect reason to buy a new wardrobe and take on a fresh new look.

Luckily, you can get these color contact lenses without a prescription. They are also known as Plano lenses, meaning they are cosmetic only, and you do not need a prescription to buy them. This is one reason why they are cheap. It costs more to get contact lenses from a pharmacist.

The Bad News?

Now for the bad news. Even though contact lenses are a great alternative to glasses and improve your appearance, the fact remains that in certain conditions, they could be a nuisance.

Some of the problems associated with wearing the cheap color contact lens, or for that matter, the expensive models, are weather conditions associated with strong wind, cold or even heat. It can't be reinforced enough that if a problem persists, then you should make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as possible to prevent any onset of eye infection.

Prescription eyeglasses. ItÂ’s a need 72% of Americans have, and chances are, you or someone you know will go through the process of purchasing them sometime in your/their life. However, there are issues that prevent us from getting what we really want, and sometimes buying a frame with pre-prescribed lenses from Walmart or Costco seems to be the easiest and most efficient way.

The truth is, our eyes, those windows to the world, deserve much more than a cheap investment and a hasty decision; opting for cookie-cutter craftsmanship could end up causing considerable damage, costing us many times the price of our original glasses. If only we werenÂ’t that cheap.

But, in a world where optical correction will exist as long as humanity does, a group of e-retailers have begun what it’s now referred to as “The Optical e-Revolution” in which buying custom-made eyeglasses has been rendered affordable, fast, and as easy as one-two-three. Too good to be true? In the past decade the Internet has leveled many playing fields and the eyeglass industry is no exception. In this era of consumerism, where the power no longer sits solely with producers and where supply eclipses demand, consumers will simply not accept being constrained by inflated prices. Companies such as EyeBuyDirect, Frames Direct and 39 Dollar Glasses have proven determined to help rid us of the number one enemy of our pockets: Retail Cost.

Try to guess the actual cost of production for those cool designer brand-name glasses youÂ’re wearing. IÂ’ll give you a hint: For the highest quality glasses that exist, itÂ’s no higher than $15 USD.

“Why should eyeglasses cost so much? Buying eyewear should be a democratic process and affordable to everyone,” says EyeBuyDirect CEO Roy Hessel. Companies like his are able to sell trendy, top-notch prescription frames starting as low as $14.95 USD because they have lean organization structures with the lower overhead costs from being online. “I was really pleased with the quality of the glasses I bought from Frames Direct. For $90, including shipping, I got glasses that I would have paid $300 for anywhere else,” said Gary Morison of New York, New York.

But there is one more obstacle that is keeping customers from the advantages of glasses on-line purchasing: the “touch and feel” factor. Considered a medical purchase, some customers feel the need to interact with their new pair before actually buying them, but according to some “professional e-buyers” such as Candy Surret, “There is nothing more personal than trying on your new glasses and being able to share them with 10 of my friends before actually making the decision.” And that’s what some e-visionaries are doing: Helping you make your decision by sharing with friends.

While 39 Dollar GlassesÂ’ SmartFit system allows you to print out a full-size picture of the selected frame, Frames DirectÂ’s Framefinder technology is a virtual try-on system that allows you to upload your picture and try on as many glasses as you want. But other companies such as EyeBuyDirect.com go a step further with their EyeTry technology that allows you to share your photos, so that your friends or family members can get involved when deciding which pair looks best on you.

The Optical e-Revolution has only begun and yet the overwhelmingly positive response of consumers has led to dramatic growth of this market. It has been estimated that by 2009 approximately half of all eyeglass purchases will be made online. But why wait til then? After all, itÂ’s just one click away.

Contact lens question... advice, please??

Hi, hoping someone can help me. I wear contacts and have worn the same lenses for a long time. I'm going to get an eye exam at Costco (my presc. expired). They say it's $45 for the exam, plus $30 for the lens fitting (to make sure they fit right). I tried to explain to them I don't need a lens fitting because I've worn the same contacts for years and I already know how they fit; I just need the exam and to pick up some more lenses. But they still say no, they have to charge $75 and include a lens fitting. Does anyone know a place that's cheaper or that doesn't require a lens fitting...? Or what are your thoughts regarding this...? Thanks so much

The $45 exam is for the comprehensive evaluation of your eye health and may include the refraction, which is the measurement of the correction required for your eye. It has nothing to do with contact lenses.
The fitting is what is required to write the contact lens prescription (which is only valid for 1 year). It includes determining the type of lens, base curve, and power of correction based on your refraction. I don't think you are going to find a better price for both than Costco.

And do you really want cheaper with regard to your eyes??? I've seen patients in my office who had cheap fittings done with cheap contact lenses. And my doctor gets to manage their infections, abrasions, and corrective errors....(not just the fault of the provider, mind you, but still)

For some people, the thought of using contact lenses and having their fingers in such close proximity to their eyes is more than enough to make them balk at the idea, and this an issue that plagues all of the brand names be it Boston Contact Lens or its rivals. There is no denying that when inserting contact lenses into the eyes, a degree of caution and care must be exercised, so as to ensure that no damage is actually caused to the eye. For example, it is an excellent idea to trim your fingernails, so as to prevent the possibility of you scratching your retina with them, as you insert your contact lenses into the eyes themselves.

The eyes are such a delicate part of our body, but that said, so long as basic safety precautions are taken, then no harm should arise, however a problem that all contact lenses wearers dread is the possibility of a contact lens getting stuck in the eye.

Whilst causing more discomfort than actual danger, for many contact lenses wearers, it can be extremely difficult to resist giving into panic and so this makes what would under normal circumstances a relatively straightforward task, into a unnecessarily difficult one.

If you do find that a contact lens has got stuck in your eye, the most important thing you can do is remain calm. Make sure you wash and dry your hands thoroughly (to prevent any dirt and grit entering the eyes) and make sure you lean over a sink with the plug firmly secured.

This way, should the contact lens happen to slip out your eye, then you can easily collect it. The last thing you want is for your Boston Contact Lens to go down the drain!

If you are wearing the hard kind of contact lenses, then why not try using a plunger to pry the lens from your eye? This is undoubtedly a highly unusual method of retrieving a stuck contact lens, but it works remarkably well!

The sales of contact lenses are regulated by the Food And Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission. Now it's easy to order the perfect contact lenses online at a great discount. Ophthalmologists are eye surgeons who study and treat eye diseases and can also perform the duties of optometrists. Optometrists examine eyes, diagnose and treat vision problems, and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses. In most states they can also prescribe medicine. Opticians grind and dispense eyeglasses and in some states dispense contact lenses.

You'll want to take some simple precautions to make any lens purchase safe and effective. And all correcting contact lenses must have a valid prescription from an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

If you plan to wear contact lenses for more than 18 hours for the purpose of changing your eye color then buy colored soft lenses. You can mark rigid lenses in a way to show which lens is for which eye. They don't rip or tear, so they are easy to handle. Soft lenses are much easier to adjust and are much more comfortable than rigid lenses because they conform to the eye and absorb and hold water.

Soft lenses also come as disposables, used once and discarded, or as planned-replacement lenses. Rigid gas permeable contact lenses are durable, resistant to deposit buildup, and generally give a clearer, crisper vision. In some model lenses, each lens corrects for near and distance vision and in others, one lens is for near vision, and the other for distance.

There are several types of lenses in the marketplace today including soft contact lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses, extended wear lenses and disposables. Keep in mind contact lenses are often more complex than appears. The expiration date for your prescription is currently set by your state requiring a one-year or two-year renewal. If your state hasn't set a minimum expiration date, government regulation sets a one-year date unless your eye doctor determines there's a medical reason for an expiration date of less than one year.

Disposable lenses don't come with instructions for cleaning and disinfecting. But those lenses labeled specifically for planned replacement do. Extended wear lenses are usually soft contact lenses made of flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea.

Check out any rebates that may be available from the seller, from the manufacturer, for first-time contact lens wearers and for individuals who buy lenses and get an eye exam. Beware of attempts to substitute a brand that is different from the one you want when buying contacts. Ask about discount prices at your doctor's office when you have your eye examination, or during a follow-up visit after you get your prescription.

Always buy from a reputable company. You can buy contact lenses without a prescription, but the company would be selling you a prescription device as if it were an over-the-counter device violating FTC regulations - selling you contact lenses without actually having your prescription. And when you receive your order, if you think you've received an incorrect contact lens, check with your doctor or eye care professional right away; don't accept any substitution unless your eye care professional approves it. There are many good contact lens retailers now on the Internet making their lenses available at a discount for both prescription and non-prescription lenses.

If you have an insurance plan, the insurance plan's seller's prices may or may not be better than what you can find elsewhere. This should be just one option when you're shopping for contacts. Check to see if your health insurance plan includes vision coverage. Compare prices and get quotes from two or three online and offline suppliers.

To be sure your eyes remain healthy you shouldn't order lenses with a prescription that's expired or stock up on lenses just before the prescription is about to expire. It's much safer to be re-checked by your eye doctor. Interesting note: when the eyes are open, tears carry adequate oxygen to the cornea to keep it healthy, but during sleep, the eye produces fewer tears, causing the cornea to swell. And the risk of corneal ulcers for people who keep extended-wear lenses in overnight is 10 to 15 times greater than for those who use daily-wear lenses only while they're awake.

A basic rule: never swap your contact lenses with anyone else. And the most serious safety concern with any contact lens is from overnight use. Replace your contacts as recommended by your eye care doctor because they wear out as time goes by.

If you're looking for cheap contact lenses, you may find that cheap materials or other ways of cutting costs will affect the quality you want. Remember to use only contact lenses that are FDA-approved and only if prescribed by a licensed eye care professional. Ordering discount contact lenses online has never been simpler with, and sometimes without, a credit card.
