Buy contact lenses to improve your vision and appearance. Contact lenses information plus tips and tricks on where to buy contact lenses on or off line.

Hey I can dig it...teenagers are teenagers and there is usually something that's hip and cool to be a part of. How about contacts? Not just any eye sight improving contacts but ones that will enhance your appearance. So, buy contact lenses to make you look better? That's it!

Okay, if you are going to buy contact lenses then to be part of the in crowd you need to buy color contact lenses. But to our teenage community reading this; do you know how to buy contact lenses. There is so much available out there today. So let's look at a few pointers.

How To Buy Contact Lenses

Tip #1.. Look for the best value for your money, not only at the price – there are many contact lenses which are more popular than other brands because they have better follow up service, better customer service and better promotional offers. Look not only at the price (even if you are on a tight budget), but also at the things you get while buying certain brands in the market.

Tip #2.. Be well informed about the pros and cons of the leading brands – check out the information available on the Net and speak with your doctor and maybe a few specialists before you settle on the brand and type that would best suit you. Do not be in a hurry here, as a wrong decision could be really dangerous.

Tip #3.. Go only for leading brands – the low cost that other brands offer will always be tempting. However, the eyes are not really organs that you can experimented with.

Tip #4.. There are many instances when cheap brands caused complications. Do not risk your eyes for saving a few dollars – it is not worth it. You should always look at the brand and quality of the lens, and not from which outlet you are buying it. The service and assurance of quality comes with the brand and not with the shop

Tip #5.. Shop around for the best choice – you can (as per the law) copy your prescription and go to other places to buy contact lenses or any eye wear. Use this opportunity to look around and choose the best brand for your needs.

Good Vision Is Important

I cannot stress enough on the importance of having a good quality contact lens. Any deviation that a cheaper version may give you can cause a number of complications that would prove much costlier for you and sometimes cause irreversible damage to your eyes.

Do not take any chances when it comes to your eyes. Buy the best and buy the safest brand available.

Again, being vigilant in your purchase is vital. I'm not endorsing that you buy contact lenses just because it's the fashionable thing to do. But what I do want you to consider is at least visiting your doctor or seeing an eye specialist to either get some solid medical advice or further information about the use of contact.

Do you remember when contacts first came out? They used to be hard, thick material that was almost as uncomfortable as wearing glasses. Well we still have hard contact lenses. There are several reasons you might elect to wear a hard contact especially since they are more comfortable than the original ones. Most individuals elect to wear soft contact lenses because they are more comfortable than hard contacts. Lets look at the differences so you can understand about hard contact lenses.

First you will find a more rewarding contact lens when you choose hard contact lenses. You eye will conform to the contact better and will keep your eye muscles from deteriorating. Most who wear soft contacts experience a slowing down in their prescription changes because the eye conforms to the contact lens, but soft contacts still move around in your eye rather than staying in place.

The material of the hard contact lens is a higher quality. You will not be able to tear these lenses because they are typically made of a glass material rather than plastic. Also these contact are more rigid. Thus you can't lose one in your eye or have it fall out. Have you ever accidentally rubbed your eye with your contact in and had it fold up on you? You probably had tears streaming your face as well as pain in your eye. With hard contact lenses you will never have to experience this. Another great thing about hard contact lenses is the ability to let moisture remain in your eye. Often soft contact lenses reduce the moisture your eye produces because you are constantly blinking to keep the contact in place. Hard contacts are better for those working outdoors with wind and heat because your eye will stay moisturized.

Hard contact lenses are also prescribed for those who have Presbyopia and other eye problems because they help keep the muscle strength you have left. Often those who need bifocal contact lenses will elect the hard contact lenses because they will sit in the eye better and help clear up their site without having to give up contact lenses for glasses.

Hard contacts require a long adjustment period especially if you have never worn contacts before. They can seem thick and gritty causing your eyes to feel a little tired. It may even feel like your allergies are acting up. This will go away after a few days of wearing the hard contact lenses. Remember if the hard contact lenses are too uncomfortable you can always go back to soft contact lenses or glasses. You other option is eye surgery.

Ophthalmologists (M.D. or D.O.) are eye surgeons who study and treat eye diseases and can also perform the duties of optometrists; optometrists (O.D.) examine eyes, diagnose and treat vision problems, and prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses and in most states they also can prescribe medicine; opticians grind and dispense eyeglasses and in some states dispense contact lenses. With a contact lens prescription in hand, it's possible to buy your contact lenses from stores, the Internet, over the phone, or by mail. Among the many kinds of contact lenses you can buy are: novelty, colored, crazy, Halloween, special effects, theatrical, costume, scary, glow in the dark, wild eyes, mirrored, black, white, and red.

All correcting contact lenses must have a valid prescription from an ophthalmologist or optometrist. Be careful about buying cheap contact lenses, they may not be the quality you want; discounted quality contact lenses are the most desirable.

Soft lenses also come as disposable products, that is, used once and discarded, or as planned-replacement lenses. Extended wear contact lenses are used for overnight or continuous wear ranging from one to six nights or up to 30 days. Soft contact lenses are made of soft, flexible plastics that allow for oxygen to pass through to the cornea.

There are two general categories of contact lenses - soft and rigid gas permeable. The length of continuous lens wear depends on the lens type and your doctor's evaluation of your tolerance for overnight wear. Some doctors prescribe disposables as planned-replacement lenses, which are removed, disinfected, and reused before being discarded.

Newer soft lens materials include silicone-hydrogels to provide more oxygen to your eyes. In some models, each lens corrects for near and distance vision and in others, one lens is for near vision, and the other is for distance. Extra-thin soft lenses are on the market for very sensitive people.

While the ability to hold water increases the oxygen permeability of soft lenses, it increases their fragility quotient as well. People who have good distance vision but need help for reading can get a monovision reading lens for one eye.

Check out how long the online supplier has been in business before you buy. Beware of attempts to substitute a brand different from the one you want when buying contacts. When you receive your order, if you think you've received an incorrect contact lens, check with your doctor or eye care professional right away; don't accept any substitution unless your eye care professional approves it.

Rebates may be available from the seller, from the manufacturer, for first-time contact lens wearers and for individuals who buy lenses and get an eye exam. You can buy contact lenses from an eye doctor, on the Internet, from an optical store or a warehouse club. When you place your order make sure your lenses are available and not out of stock, because you'll need them now.

Buy your contact lenses from a supplier you're familiar with and know is reliable or has name familiarity. Always ask what rebates are available. Before you buy online, check to see if there are any testimonials at the online supplier's website.

To be sure your eyes remain healthy you shouldn't order lenses with a prescription that's expired or stock up on lenses right before the prescription is about to expire; it's much safer to be re-checked by your eye doctor. One sight-threatening concern is the infection Acanthamoeba keratitis, which is caused by improper lens care; this difficult-to-treat parasitic infection's symptoms are similar to those of corneal ulcers. The most serious safety concern with any contact lens is from overnight use.

Extended-wear rigid lenses can cause unexpected, undesirable, reshaping of the cornea. Replace your contacts as recommended by your eye doctor because they wear out as time goes by. If your eyes become red or irritated, remove the lenses immediately and consult with your doctor.

No matter which lenses your doctor prescribes, be sure to ask for written instructions and follow them carefully. If you're planning to buy contact lenses, you should buy the best quality you can get, even at a higher price; you don't want to skimp on quality when it comes to your eyes. It's becoming easier and easier all the time to shop online and often the shipping is free.

contact lenses?

my biggest problem is that im a bit of a hypochondriac. put that together with a moment of not being attentive and u get a real tragedy. so, what i did is i washed my face with my contacts in. im not quite sure if water actually went in my eyes, my best guess is it didnt. however, 10 minutes later i took them out, cuz i read online that u can get keratitis and go blind if water and contacts interact. rite now my contacts are in a peroxide based solution, so i have no doubt that every living thing that once existed on them will die. my question is...will my eyes b okay after this episode?

I wear contacts all the time... I wear them sometimes when I sleep, whear them in the shower, when I go to the pool, tubing down the river.... They are made to wear for all kinds of things... If you get water in your eye it will sometimes make your contact fall out.. But I have never had that happen. It has never given me and kind of infection either... You don't have much to be worried about at all.

The Vistakon division of Johnson & Johnson specializes in disposable contact lenses. These are sold to customers under brand names like ACUVUE® ADVANCE® with HYDRACLEAR®, ACUVUE® ADVANCE® for ASTIGMATISM and ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™.

The entire range of Acuvue products has some distinct features that make it a hot seller in the market. Let us look at some of the aspects of this leading contact lens brand.

The Acuvue Oasys has an accelerated stabilization design. In comparison to its closest competitor this design gives the wearer crisper and clearer vision. The technology incorporates four stabilization zones as opposed to a single one as seen in other contact lenses.

It helps to keep the lens stable while blinking and moving the eyeball. It also uses the natural pressure of the eyelids to help stabilize the lens. This is just one of the few great ideas that have been incorporated into the lens.

The basic component of contact lenses in this family is senofilcon A. The specialty of this newer generation silicone hydro gel is its ability to retain moisture. The property translates into a comfortable, silky feel for the wearer and freedom from tired eyes.

It also allows users to wear contact lenses for an extended period of time. The material of the lens is much smoother than other conventional silicone hydro gel lenses and this helps alleviate the dry eye feeling to a great extent.

The astigmatism range of lenses also blocks more than 96% and 99% of UVA and UVB rays respectively. This meets the highest UV blocking standards for contact lenses. These should ideally be used along with sunglasses of good quality to give eyes maximum protection from UV rays.

The lenses can be worn for up to a week on a continuous basis. It is also recommended never to exceed the ideal replacement time for lenses as this might cause eye problems. If you plan to buy contact lenses, it would be a great idea to consult your eye care doctor for the best choice.

Buying Contact Lenses?

I just started wearing contacts a few months ago. My doctor's supply of contacts is running out. Now that I'm back in school, it's a pain to drive all the way back home to see my eye doctor to get another few months worth of contacts.

So I tried to buy contacts at 1-800-contacts.com. The only problem was I didn't see my original brand on there (2clear toric lenses) so I was wondering if it's okay to buy another brand (I was looking at the Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism) or if I should just suck it up and drive back to my doctor for more contacts.

Thanks!

if u r planning to switch brands, specially with toric lenses, u mite wanna try out different brands as the fit and comfort level can differ. i tried on 4 brands including bausch n lomb and acuvue before i finally decided to go with biofinity torics. they r more comfortable for my dry eyes n fit better. but they r expensive so i dont know if they'll b available at 1800 contacts. there r other online sites u can try 2. or call ur doc n order a trial pair n have them shipped 2 u.

Proclear contact lenses are manufactured by Cooper Vision, the fourth largest contact lens manufacturer in the world, Proclear's phosphorylcholine (PC Technology TM ) has given proclear contact lens the distinct advantage of being the only contacts with FDA clearance for the claim: "may provide improved comfort for contact lens wearers who experience mild discomfort or symptom relating to dryness during lens wear."

In other words if you suffer from dry eyes, the proclear contact lens brand is the one for you. Let's take a look at what each of these proclear contacts can do for you.

Proclear Multifocal Contact Lenses

Do you suffer from presbyopia (inability of the eye to focus on near objects aka "old eye)? Do your eyes get dry after extended contact lens wear? Then proclear multifocal contacts are the perfect solution for you. These lenses give you better vision at all distances and exceptional all day comfort and moisture.

Proclear Compatible

These lenses are perfect for those who want a monthly wear schedule. Not only can you wear them for a full month, you also experience the unparallel comfort and moisture. Great for those of us who spend extended times in front of computer screens or in environmentally controlled environments.

Proclear Toric

If you suffer from astigmatism (inability of the cornea to properly focus an image on the retina resulting in blurred vision), proclear toric lenses are perfect for you. Also available in proclear toric XR. These lens provide all day comfort all month long. Also utilizes the PC Technology that works by using molecules naturally found in tears that keeps eyes moist.

Proclear 1-Day

Made from a next generation, biocompatible soft contact lens material, these contacts provide unrivalled level of comfort in a daily disposable lens. Perfect for those who prefer a daily wear schedule. Now the PC Technology's moisture and comfort is available in a daily disposable.

Great now you know all about Proclear contact lenses, the next question is not only where can you get them, but where can you get them at the best prices. In my experience, buying contact lenses online is by far the most convenient not to mention being a time and money saver. You can save up to 70% off when you buy contact lenses online.

But before you rush out and order your lenses online there are a few things you need to know. First, contacts are considered a medical device and therefore you need a prescription to order online. Second, not all online contact lens stores are equal. Make sure you are ordering form a reputable online store.

Happy contact lens hunting.

Sean Willoughby is the owner of http://www.bifocal-contact-lens-info.com the premier source for contact lens info. Get discounts and rebates on Proclear contact lens.

what is the most effective over the counter eyedrops for really dry eyes?

I have tried several but they make my eyes blurry. Also taking different vitamins or herbs makes my eyes dry out. I just tried the new genteal gel for severe dry eye and thats no big shakes.

Elizabeth V,
Whilst you do not state the cause of your dry eyes, I shall discuss various methods of treatment available for this condition. Under normal circumstances, dry eyes cannot be cured, though there are a number of steps that can be taken to treat them. You should discuss treatment options with an ophthalmologist. Treatments for dry eyes may include - the use of artificial teardrops, which is the primary treatment for dry eye. Artificial teardrops are available over the counter. No one drop works for everyone, so you might have to experiment to find the drop that works for you. If you have chronic dry eye, it is important to use the drops even when your eyes feel fine, to keep them lubricated. If your eyes dry out while you sleep, you can use a thicker lubricant, such as an ointment, at night. Temporary punctal occlusion - sometimes it is necessary to close the ducts that drain tears out of the eye. This is done via a painless procedure where a plug that will dissolve quickly is inserted into the tear drain of the lower eyelid. Permanent punctal occlusion. If temporary plugging of the tear drains works well, then silicone plugs (punctal occlusion) may be used. The plugs will hold tears around the eyes as long as they are in place. They can be removed. Rarely, the plugs may come out spontaneously or migrate down the tear drain. Many patients find that the plugs improve comfort and reduce the need for artificial tears. Restasis. In 2002, the FDA approved the prescription eye drop Restasis for the treatment of chronic dry eye. It is currently the only prescription eye drop that helps your eyes increase their own tear production with continued use. Other medications, including topical steroids, may also be beneficial in some cases. If needed, the ducts that drain tears into the nose can be permanently closed to allow more tears to remain around the eye. This is done with local anesthetic on an outpatient basis.

a virtual world. Don't believe me. Just take a look at what products and information are available over the internet. And besides, you're here reading this aren't you? The world of eye wear is moving online too; for starters, you can buy contact lenses online.

To buy contact lenses online just go into your favorite search engine and type in anything to do with contact lenses. Then sit back and sift through the myriad of in formation to find what you are looking for. But be warned, there is a time and there is not a time to buy contact lenses online.

If you have a vision correction and you are wearing glasses but are tired of them, the way they feel and make you look ( most people switch to contact lenses to improve their looks) you are ready for contact lenses. However, to buy contact lenses online is not a wise choice in your case.

Variety Of Contact Lenses Available

There is a huge variety of contact lenses available made specially to fit each different type of vision correction need. You have no way of knowing which is suitable for you without contacting your doctor who will conduct a number of tests to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is also a risk of one being allergic to contact lenses and you have no way of knowing that if you buy contact lenses online.

Therefore if you are going to wear contact lenses for the first time, you must consult your doctor and he/she will determine what meets your requirements and comfort the best. Vision correcting contact lenses are available only by prescription in the U.S.A.

Who Can Buy Contact lenses Online

Those who already have a prescription from the doctor can buy contact lenses online. When you fill an order for contact lenses online you will be prompted to supply doctor’s prescription details which will be dully checked, thanks to the very online technology.

However the most important factor is that you will not order the wrong contact lenses and end up causing yourself a greater injury than you already have.

How Safe Is It?

There are many sites out there offering a wide range and brands of contact lenses to choose from. It is advised to research well before purchasing. You have to consider investing in a known brand since you have no way of checking them until they get to you and that is usually too late as they would have already charged your account.

It's probably a good idea to stay with the brand name companies unless of course, you have an excellent referral, especially from your doctor. The brand name companies have been in business a long time and are keen to stay there and maintain their place at the head of the charts. Things like money back guarantees should be considered when you buy contact lenses online. And don't forget, it can be safe to buy online provided you have a prescription.

I want to play hockey but I wear eye glasses to see objects far away. I would like to know if there are any visors that can help with this problem or will I have to get contact lenses. How have others gone about this problem?

Threre are sports glasses that are kinda like goggles. They have a strap to keep them on your eyes. I guess you could go the contacts route as well. I know nothing about prescription/corrective visors for hockey.

Are you in the market for contact lenses, but donÂ’t know where to start? Do you feel like your current retailer is overcharging you, or just want to shop around? Here is a list of some of the best places to buy contact lenses.

Your Eye DoctorÂ’s Office

Your eye doctorÂ’s office is not the first place that people think of to find discount contact lenses, but you might be pleasantly surprised by the prices available. Many doctors offer a reduced price on contact lenses to attract new patients to their office. Others offer bundled contacts and professional services, resulting in great deals for patients.

Mass Market Retailers

Many large stores, ranging from department stores like Sears to discount stores like WalMart or CostCo, offer contact lens services. Because they deal in large amounts of volume, they are often able to offer excellent prices on contact lenses.

Eye Care Chains

Eye care chains, such as Pearle Vision or Lenscrafters, often do a bustling business in contact lenses, allowing them to provide discounted prices and fast service.

Online Retailers

Online retailers offer an excellent selection of discount contact lenses. Shopping online is quick and convenient, and you are easily able to compare prices and services across different websites.

Where Not to Buy Contact Lenses

In order to avoid the risks of infection, eye damage, and blindness, you should never buy contact lenses from an unregistered source. Flea markets, video stores, gas stations, and the like are not trustworthy sources of discount contact lenses. Before buying from any of these sources, ask to see their license to sell contacts.

As you can see, you have a broad variety of options when it comes to selecting a contact lens retailer. By shopping around, you can save yourself a lot of money when filling your contact lens prescription.

You can find more information on buying contact lenses online at http://www.eyecontactguide.com.

Contact Lenses help please.?

I need to update my contact lenses.

It been a year since my last doctor check up, this will be my 2nd time getting contact lenses, and i have an astigmatism.

What exactly do i need. A follow-up, an eye exam, or a lens fitting? or all i'm just not sure.

I want to know if i have to make an appointment with my doctor again.

If i do then does it have to be at a hospital or from my own doctor. Can these things from costco or sears?

You should go to an optometrist or ophthalmologist..Most insurances you are covered to go get an eye exam every year...you just need to pay whatever co-pay you have. You need a prescription for a new contact lenses. Yes, you can either go to Costco and Sears now as they do have doctors there to check your eyes but make sure you bring your current contact lenses so they will be easy for them to re-check your old prescriptions.

Needing reading glasses has little to do with getting old. Many people start to need reading glasses in their thirties and often their eye health may be improved by the introduction of these glasses sufficiently to freeze the deterioration of the eyes for many years, into old age.

Reading glasses now come in fantastic colours and styles and few people cling to the old chestnut that only elderly people wear them. Now that modern men and women appreciate the importance of taking care of their eyes, these glasses are worn with panache and intelligent people whip out their reading glasses at every opportunity just to show off their latest acquisition!

This is an improvement over the days when nobody would be seen wearing those ugly little nose pinchers that granny wore to read her newspaper. Reading glasses now come in screaming orange and turquoise or zebra print, or Dalmatian spots that fold away into a matching case that hangs from a leather thong swatch. Snazzy!

What about reading in the sun? Making the effort to shield your eyes from the sun is always a good idea to avoid ghastly eye diseases that might not appear straight away but emerge later in life.

So what happens when you go on holiday and sit by a sparkling pool in the bright sunshine and want to read your book? Do you slip your sunglass on over your glasses? Actually, some people do exactly that but it is not ideal and you can end up with seriously scratched glasses. If you have spent a significant amount of money on trendy reading glasses, it's annoying to have to replace them after your holiday because you scratched them under your sunglasses.

It is absolutely necessary to protect your eyes from the sun, however, even when reading. So why not purchase a pair of 'sunreaders?' Sunreaders are the latest thing to come on the market and are available in a variety of combinations. Some sunreaders are simply plain lens sunglasses without prescription at the top but with a prescription bifocal reading lens at the bottom. Ingenious! Others are prescription sunglasses with the glass prescription; they are also available as prescription sunglasses at the top and yet another prescription for reading within the bifocal area. However, consult your eye care practitioner's advice for the best combination for you.

Sunreaders are a great way to take care of your eyes and enjoy your holiday in the sun at the same time. You can also read and 'people watch' from a street café!

We make buying contact lenses online cost effective, highly secure and comfortable by providing you with a market wide selection of contact lenses at the best prices for your specific prescription.
