Why is it that humans feel we can continue to modify animals to our liking?

Before I begin on my rant, don't get me wrong. I think as long as domesticated animals are treated right, the mutual friendship is beneficial to both parties. I wouldn't give up my pets for anything.

I have just started reading about the sales of fish known as Painted Glass Fish.

They look pretty cool right? But then I found out that they are injected with dye that turns them neon but causes severe irritation, their natural slime coats are stripped so the color lasts longer, and overall they die extremely young, often from cancer and tumors.

I am thinking about so much beyond the fish right now, and I'm sure you know what, but any way, I'm frustrated. When were humans given the right to make animals suffer just so they can make more of a profit?

Because we have the brain capacity to be able to do this unlike any other animal. No reason not to as it is natural to do so. Humans are part of nature, you know.
